Torino are interested in relieving Roma of want-away defender Christian Panucci, according to their new director of sport Rino Foschi.
The former Milan stopper refused to sit on the bench yesterday as Roma travelled to Napoli and then asked to leave the club, claiming he no longer felt the confidence of his peers.
Panucci revealed last week that he was only willing to renew his contract with Roma if the Giallorossi could guarantee him a place in the first team.
Who would not like a player like Panucci? said Foschi. He is a player of great quality and of great worth.
Torino President Urbano Cairo also refused to deny the Granata are drawing up a bid for the 35-year-old former Italy international.
I delegate everything to Foschi, explained Cairo. We have contracted him because its really up to him to manage these situations. I let him work with confidence.
Torino are in great need of a defender. They have the second worst backline in Serie A and are third from bottom in the table.
