| Panucci: I quit Roma! |
Sunday 25 January, 2009 |
|
Christian Panucci has confirmed he wants to leave Roma immediately. Luciano Spalletti does not respect me.
The defender refused to sit on the bench for this afternoon's 3-0 win at Napoli, so he was sent to the stands.
I have made my decision, I'm leaving Roma, as Spalletti does not respect me, announced Panucci on Sky Italia.
I spent eight splendid years in Rome and I have not yet contacted any other club.
His agent also backed up Panucci's position against the Giallorossi tactician.
Unfortunately, this is the rapport between Christian and the Coach, said Oscar Damiani.
I will try to find him a new club and at least a solution to end the season. If he does have to go, I will have to work to find an alternative.
Roma have to be willing to release him, though, then at the end of the season he will be free to make his decisions.
Panucci's contract expires in June and he will be a free agent at the end of this term. Much of the tension within the camp is because Roma have hesitated in renewing his deal.
