Silvio revels in Kaka stay
Friday 23 January, 2009

Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi has relived his joy at Kaka's decision to reject a move to Manchester City.

The 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year resisted a contract that would have made him the highest earner in football history.

Berlusconi announced the news that Manchester City's efforts had been in vain live on TV on Monday evening.

“Keeping Kaka was like winning another Champions League,” Berlusconi told QN.

“I am happy and proud because I honestly feel that Milan are the only club where something like that could happen.

“The Sheikh is doing a great job in building a competitive side for domestic and European success at Manchester City, but he knows that I am in charge of Milan.

“We gave Kaka full freedom to make his decision, but I am happy with his choice.”

There have been regular reports in the Spanish Press that Kaka will sign for Real Madrid this summer.

“Kaka and Milan have already rebuffed the Spaniards once and I don't see why our stance would change,” Berlusconi roared.

“Kaka has clearly shown his bond to us and won't be demanding a pay rise either.”
