Milan draw up £108m shopping list
Saturday 17 January, 2009

As Kaka is pushed into accepting Eastlands, Milan are eyeing the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Michael Essien with their £108m bonus.

It is widely reported that the Rossoneri are the ones urging Kaka to make the January transfer to Manchester City, somewhat against the player’s wishes, as they want to cash in on this historic bid.

They are already drawing up a shopping list of where to spend the money and much of it will go to the Premier League.

Adebayor was in extensive negotiations with Milan in the summer before he opted to remain at Arsenal and the Italians went for Ronaldinho instead.

The 25-year-old Togo international would be available for around £30m, while Gunners teammate Gael Clichy is a bargain £12m.

The defence needs more restructuring than any other part of the team and Milan have already captured Thiago Silva – who won’t be available until the summer because of his non-EC status – and Felipe Mattioni.

In midfield Yoann Gourcuff will return from his loan spell at Bordeaux, having become a star of Ligue 1 during his time there.

As Gennaro Gattuso and Massimo Ambrosini are not getting any younger, it is believed another £30m bid for 26-year-old Chelsea man Essien is on the cards.
