In a shock move, Roma have parted company with their chief medic after a 10-year working relationship.
The club announced this evening that they “terminated the professional rapport with Dr Mario Brozzi, as chief medic for the club, with immediate effect.
“A.S. Roma wish to thank Dr Brozzi for his work during this period of collaboration.”
It is a bizarre and unexpected twist to events, as Brozzi has been with the Giallorossi for a decade.
Dr Del Signore is expected to replace him at the head of the medical staff, although it is not clear whether he will be in place before Sunday’s game away to Torino.
Brozzi’s abrupt departure is likely linked to the number of injuries in the Roma squad, above all Francesco Totti’s thigh strain.
He had been following Totti’s progress and reassured the captain was recovering ahead of schedule, but something behind the scenes may have prompted this sudden split.
