Giampaolo Pazzini has officially moved from Fiorentina to Sampdoria with Emiliano Bonazzoli going in the other direction.
Pazzini asked the Viola for a move after playing second fiddle to Adrian Mutu and Alberto Gilardino this season.
And after Palermo and Bologna pulled out of the race, Sampdoria agreed a deal with the Tuscans this afternoon.
Sampdoria will pay just under £7m for full rights to Pazzini and experienced marksman Bonazzoli will join Fiorentina on loan with the option to make the switch permanent during the summer.
Azzurrini striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo is also expected to leave Fiorentina after declaring his desire to find a new side.
Pazzini scored nine times last season in 31 outings, which was his most convincing total since arriving from Atalanta in January 2005.
