Sampdoria are close to completing the permanent signature of Fiorentina striker Giampaolo Pazzini.
Former Under-21 international Pazzini has asked for a change of scene after struggling to secure a first-team place at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Palermo and Bologna were the first sides to express an interest in Pazzini, but the two clubs were priced out of the running.
Now Sampdoria have emerged as favourites for Pazzini's signature and the player has expressed his desire to represent the Blucerchiati.
Fiorentina have reportedly asked for experienced hitman Emiliano Bonazzoli to move in the opposite direction on loan with the right to make the deal permanent in the summer.
A deal may be delayed until Fiorentina are certain that Adrian Mutu's elbow injury isn't too serious, but Pazzini is moving ever closer to Samp.
