Totti eyes Napoli role
Tuesday 13 January, 2009

Roma captain Francesco Totti is aiming to return from injury in time for Week 20's trip to Napoli.

The Giallorossi talisman has been out of action since picking up a thigh strain in the final game of 2008 against Catania.

Initially there were fears that Totti could be out of action until mid-February, but he is back in training and plans to return ahead of schedule.

“I ended 2008 with a muscular injury, but I'm doing my best to recover as quickly as possible,” Totti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The results from the latest medical tests were positive and I am back working with a ball, but I will only be at Luciano Spalletti's disposal when I am fully fit.

“I hope to be back in action against Napoli, but I don't want to face the same kind of expectations I had when I returned from my knee injury.”

Totti was out for the first six weeks of the campaign due to anterior cruciate ligament damage suffered last April when playing against Livorno.
