Palermo striker Fabrizio Miccoli has explained why he came off after 41 minutes of the Rosaneros game with Atalanta on Sunday.
The 29-year-old former Juventus attacker helped Palermo win 3-2 by scoring the opening goal, before making way for Davide Succi with a strained muscle in his right leg.
I was unhappy to leave [the game] prematurely, but we could not have done otherwise, said a despondent Miccoli.
We would have risked aggravating an injury and it wasnt worth taking a chance on it given there is still the second half of the season to play.
I will have an X-ray on Tuesday to understand the seriousness of the problem in the flexor muscle.
"I hope itll not be too bad and that Ill be on the pitch against Sampdoria at the weekend.
Miccoli has been in scintillating form this season, averaging a goal every other game for Palermo who currently lie eighth in Serie A.
