Mirko Vucinic believes “Milan bring me good luck” as he prepares for Sunday’s showdown and then targets the Champions League Final.
The Roma striker has already bagged two winners against the Rossoneri in recent years, nodding in for a 1-0 victory at San Siro last season and a right-foot hit in a 2-1 result at the Olimpico.
“It’s true, Milan bring me good luck,” grinned the Montenegro international in the Corriere dello Sport.
“Those two goals are among the fondest memories of my career. They were some good finishes, too, but I am ready to sign right now to forego any goal on Sunday as long as Roma emerge with the three points at the final whistle.”
That game is set to be the centre of attention for other reasons too, as David Beckham makes his Serie A debut.
“It is possible, even if it will be very tough. Beckham is a champion. He has won in every team he played for, so if he plays it will be an extra weapon in their armoury.”
Francesco Totti misses out for Roma due to a thigh strain, while the visitors are without Gennaro Gattuso for the rest of the season following knee surgery.
“These are two crucial players, but Totti is Totti. For example, do you know any player who wouldn’t want to work with our captain?” asked Vucinic.
“Personally my objectives for 2009 are to score at least 20 goals, including Cup competition. I have already got 10 so far this season and I want to double that tally.
“As a team we are targeting fourth place, because the first three have already been ‘booked’ by Inter, Juventus and Milan.
“The dream, however, is to reach the Champions League Final and to play it at the Olimpico.”
