Kaka sprain leaves derby in doubt
Sunday 8 February, 2009

Milan breathe a sigh of relief as Kaka has not sustained any fractures, but his foot injury could still keep him out of the derby.

The Brazilian limped off during Saturday evening’s 1-1 draw with Reggina and was taken to hospital for X-Rays.

There were fears he had fractured a bone in his left foot, but the official Milan website confirmed the news was nowhere near as serious.

Kaka has instead sprained the left foot with painful bruising, so although it is not a long-term problem, it could still rule him out of the derby.

The Rossoneri go head-to-head with Serie A leaders Inter on Sunday February 15 and Kaka has a race against time to be ready.

A bruised or sprained foot can be a very painful injury that can make training or even pulling on football boots extremely difficult.

Daniele Bonera will definitely miss out on the derby, as he picked up a yellow card against Reggina and will be suspended.
