Napoli director general Pierpaolo Marino urges his “heartbroken” players to turn the Coppa Italia exit to Juventus into a positive boost.
The Partenopei went out after a penalty shoot-out in Wednesday’s tense quarter-final at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin and one of those who missed was Ezequiel ‘Pocho’ Lavezzi.
“You should’ve seen him, he was crying like a baby,” revealed Marino. “We must convert that disappointment into positive energy.
“I think there were signs of improvement in there. The lads must take the good things from the exit to Juventus, those tactical certainties that emerged.”
It was a bitter blow for Napoli, who have one point from their last four Serie A games and are now out of the Coppa Italia.
“Now we must continue to fight for a UEFA Cup spot, which is our objective for the season,” concluded the director general of the club.
Napoli travel to Palermo’s Stadio Barbera in the Sunday evening match.
Gennaro Iezzo, Matteo Gianello, Manuele Blasi and the suspended Daniele Mannini are likely to miss out.
