Moratti stands by his Mou
Wednesday 4 February, 2009

Inter President Massimo Moratti is adamant that he made the correct decision in sacking Roberto Mancini and bringing in Jose Mourinho.

Mancini was given his marching orders despite delivering the Scudetto last season.

His replacement Mourinho has built up a six-point advantage at the top of the table and secured a place in the Champions League last 16, but his side haven't always impressed.

“I am more convinced than ever that I made the right choice by bringing in Mourinho,” Moratti insisted in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It proved costly to fire Mancini, but we needed a change. Mourinho has brought renewed enthusiasm and has changed our training methods. I am sure that we will hit top form when we need to.”

The Special One has been criticised for instigating the purchase of Ricardo Quaresma, who has joined Chelsea on loan after a dismal stay at San Siro.

“It was a big investment, but I wouldn't say it was a failure,” Moratti said.

“It was not a success, no doubt about it, but Quaresma now has the chance to redeem himself at Chelsea.

“Playing at San Siro with the crowd murmuring every time you do something wrong is clearly not easy.

“London is different and I'm sure he will go back to being the player he was.”

Sacchi: Quaresma to flop at Chelsea
Arrigo Sacchi has warned Ricardo Quaresma will be “a flop” at Chelsea as well, but hopes Didier Drogba can join Inter instead. More
