Sinisa Mihajlovic won’t be upset if the Lazio fans jeer him this afternoon. “Indifference is far worse than being hated.”
The Bologna boss returns to the Olimpico, where he played from 1998 to 2004, and is expecting a less than warm welcome.
“I didn’t leave in the best circumstances, but I never worry about these things,” shrugged the Serb.
“The worst thing is indifference. If they jeer you or applaud, it means you provoked a reaction and some feeling in them. That is the important thing.”
Mihajlovic has other things to consider right now, as Bologna have picked up just one point from four games and are sliding back into the danger zone.
“We have reaped much less than we sowed and our performances did not deserve defeats. However, if we only got one point against Udinese, Napoli, Inter and Fiorentina, there must be a reason.
“We can’t just cling to bad luck as an excuse for everything, because you need to earn good fortune too. We need to have more belief in what we’re doing, be more cynical and focused.”
The Rossoblu are without the suspended Vangelis Moras as well as injured trio Gabriele Paonessa, Daniel Pablo Osvaldo and Cesar Aparecido.
“I don’t see why we can’t win in Rome against Lazio,” insisted Mihajlovic.
Kick-off at the Stadio Olimpico is 17.00 UK time.
