Del Piero: Chelsea can be beaten
Thursday 26 February, 2009

Juventus talisman Alessandro Del Piero believes his side can beat Chelsea when they travel to Turin in two weeks' time.

The Bianconeri lost 1-0 at Stamford Bridge last night in the first leg of Round Two of the Champions League.

Didier Drogba scored the only goal of the game after 12 minutes and Juventus did well to hold the Blues to a slender aggregate lead.

“We come away from this challenge with a slight satisfaction,” Del Piero told Sky Italia. “Because we deserved a draw.

“Anyway, we will start again from this defeat and good performance, but in Turin we know that we will have to do something more.”

The 34-year-old Juventus captain reserved praise for Chelsea, yet insisted his side can still make the quarter-finals of the competition.

“Chelsea are a great team and this evening they showed it,” Del Piero admitted. “We respect them a lot but I believe that we have the possibility of passing the round.

“Provided that we play a perfect game [we should go through]. Conviction in our own means can be our secret weapon.”

Juventus are back in action this weekend when they welcome Napoli to Turin. The Bianconeri currently lie second in Serie A.
