Mexes pledges Roma response
Wednesday 25 February, 2009

Philippe Mexes has promised that we will see “a different Roma” in the Giallorossi's Champions League last 16 second leg against Arsenal.

The Eternal City outfit fell to a 1-0 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

A Robin Van Persie penalty in the first half was the difference between the sides and means that the Lupi must find the net at the Stadio Olimpico to keep their European dream alive.

“Arsenal played very well, especially in the first half,” Mexes admitted to Forzaroma.info.

“However, I am convinced that you will see a different Roma in the second leg.

“We have a lot of confidence in our ability to get a positive result and to progress in this competition.

“Was it a penalty? I think it probably was because I got in front of him and made a mistake by taking out his feet.”

Influential midfielder Daniele De Rossi will miss the second leg through suspension after he was booked.

“It's very disappointing news for us, but there's no point in dwelling on it,” Mexes insisted.

“We just need to think about the present and try to ensure that we win at the Stadio Olimpico,” he concluded.
