Jose Mourinho thinks San Siro will give Manchester United an unforgettable sight. “English fans will be drowned out!”
The Inter Coach is already looking ahead to the Champions League clash and is firing up the tifosi to help his team.
“On Tuesday evening there will be 80,000 people in the stadium. I can imagine a great atmosphere with all the Inter fans tied to the team and the desire to win together,” said Mou.
“It'll be just like the derby. There will be United fans who are going to make a lot of noise, as always, but they'll be drowned out in that cauldron. It won't be easy to hear them.”
Confidence is high after going nine points clear at the top of the table following a 2-1 victory over Milan.
“It will be a fantastic match. After the derby we were very happy and everyone saw this game. Even [Sir Alex] Ferguson will have seen us and will surely have been impressed.”
Mourinho was brought in to replace Roberto Mancini because his predecessor had failed to progress in the Champions League.
“For me the Champions League works in two ways: either you win it, or you don't,” noted the man who lifted this trophy with Porto.
“Eliminating Manchester United is pointless if we don't win at the end. If you beat United and then go out in the quarter-finals or semi-finals, or lose the Final, then you are empty-handed.
“In the League if you finish second then you lose, but at least you have achieved something for next season.”
Inter have a tough test today, kick-off at 15.00, away to Bologna and Mourinho had words of warning for his squad.
“You cannot get away with anything on my watch. If you disappoint against Bologna, you are out of the game with United.”
