President Maurizio Zamparini is confident his side can defeat Juventus this evening for the third time in a row.
The Rosanero have beaten the giants 3-2 here last season and 2-1 in Turin earlier this term, so they are going for the hat-trick at the Stadio Barbera.
“We will have the right concentration for an important match like the one against Juve, I am certain of it,” smiled Zamparini on Radio Kiss Kiss.
“In fact, I will add that if Palermo play the way they did in the first half against Napoli, the way this team knows it can play, then not even the Bianconeri can hold us back.
“Personally, I find that beating a big club like Juventus is more motivating than defeating Catania in the Sicilian derby.”
The Bianconeri are expected to make sweeping changes to their line-up as they prepare for the Champions League tie with Chelsea.
“I don’t think Claudio Ranieri’s side will be distracted. Juve’s objective is to finish second in Serie A so they can go directly into the next edition of the Champions League. This is why they’ll come to the Barbera seeking maximum points.”
One of the Juventus stars benched could well be former Palermo hero Amauri, who returns to face his old club for the first time.
“He is a great player and a great man, so I follow his progress every weekend with real affection,” confessed the Rosanero President.
“He will be given a welcome exclusively of applause and ovations. If I could take one player away from the Bianconeri, it would be him.”
