Marino's Friulani frustration
Friday 20 February, 2009

Udinese Coach Pasquale Marino couldn't hide his disappointment after seeing his side throw away a two-goal advantage against Lech Poznan.

The Friulani had one foot in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup as they led 2-0 in Poland with 10 minutes remaining.

But two lapses of concentration proved costly as the game finished 2-2, leaving Udinese with only a slight advantage ahead of the second leg.

“Before the game I would have settled for a 2-2 draw,” Marino confessed to Sportmediaset.

“But now having seen the game and what we created I am very disappointed.

“We had set the target of scoring at least one goal on the night and at 2-0 it looked like everything was under control.

“However, we failed to keep possession as we needed to and we let them attack so they struck back.

“Now we know that there is no room for error in the Stadio Friuli game because we cannot afford to let in a goal.”

A goalless draw in the return match will be enough to ensure qualification for the Bianconeri.
