Mou looks on the bright side
Sunday 1 February, 2009

Jose Mourinho is not too disappointed with the “undeserved” home draw and reveals Hernan Crespo is still off the Champions League list.

Crespo was disappointed when he was excluded from the squad eligible to play in the group phase, although he has been playing more regularly in Serie A.

“I spoke to him about it. I am sorry, but the decisions have already been made,” confirmed the Coach.

Mou was visibly furious on the sidelines during this afternoon’s 1-1 draw with Torino, but after the final whistle he relaxed.

“We have a point more than we did yesterday. In the last round we were six points clear, now it is seven and if Milan win this evening it will be six again with one less game to play,” he told Sky Italia.

“A draw at home is never a result that I enjoy, but I do accept it. We created many scoring opportunities and Toro defended with everything they had.

“I admire teams who put in the performance of a lifetime. If we had started the way we finished, then it would have been a different game.”

Rolando Bianchi gave Torino the lead and Nicolas Burdisso cancelled it out, but it was a siege in the final 15 minutes with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Hernan Crespo hitting the woodwork.

“The team had a fantastic reaction and in those 15 minutes did everything possible to win,” continued Mourinho.

“We deserved more, but this result is a just reward for the great spirit shown by the Granata.”

There is a problem brewing at San Siro, though, as Ricardo Quaresma was repeatedly jeered by the fans, especially when he missed a late sitter.

“It is difficult for me to talk about Quaresma,” said the tactician who demanded his £20m signing in the summer.

“He did not play well, so he needs to find the psychological strength to handle the criticism and react in a positive way.

“The crowd at San Siro is not an easy one to impress and we need to band together in order to face this situation.”
