Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani claims the Rossoneri have taken steps towards securing the signature of David Beckham.
The former Manchester United midfielder has been with the Diavolo on loan, but he is scheduled to return to Los Angeles Galaxy at the start of next month.
However, Beckham has stressed his desire to stay in Milan and the club are working to negotiate a deal with the Galaxy.
Over the last few hours we have made some progress and I am getting more and more hopeful, Galliani boomed when questioned by journalists this afternoon.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, many Galaxy fans are angry at Beckham for his open flirtation with Milan and are ready to create a hostile atmosphere should he return.
Talks are expected to conclude one way or the other next Tuesday when Milan officials hold D-day talks in Los Angeles.
