No white flag from Gigi
Monday 16 February, 2009

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon refuses to give up on the Scudetto despite falling nine points behind Inter.

The Old Lady could only draw 1-1 with Sampdoria, while Inter beat city rivals Milan 2-1.

It will be tough for the Bianconeri to catch the leaders now, but Buffon won't let the Scudetto go that easily.

“Things are hard for us now because nine points is a big gap,” the Azzurri No 1 admitted to the Corriere dello Sport.

“However, there is no need for us to give up hope. We are a team full of fighters and it isn't over yet.

“On a personal level, I made a few mistakes against Sampdoria and Cagliari and I expect more from myself.”

Buffon also commented on Adriano's goal against Milan, which seemed to be scored with his hand.

“I always try and see the best in people and having seen the goal on TV I think it's obvious he didn't mean to handle the ball - these things are just part and parcel of the game.”
