Moratti: We thrashed them!
Monday 16 February, 2009

Inter chief Massimo Moratti claims the Nerazzurri's derby win was comfortable and could've been more emphatic.

The leaders extended their advantage at the summit of Serie A with a crucial 2-1 win over their city rivals Milan.

There was controversy over Adriano's goal, which put Inter ahead, as he seemed to use his hand when finding the net.

“I'm not sure about Adriano's goal,” Moratti admitted to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“There could have been a handball, but we played with such determination that I think we would have triumphed anyway.

“In the past the derby ended 4-3 but it should have ended 7-0. It was like that yesterday, where we could have won more comfortably.

"But the important thing, as always, was that we took home the victory with a show of strength while entertaining.

“We should have won by more, but the most important thing was that we got the result and did so by showing strength and determination.

“The decision to field Adriano was a gamble for us all. I think Jose Mourinho has done everything needed to bring him back to his best and I'm happy about that,” he concluded.
