Diego Milito believes the showdown with Fiorentina “is a crucial stepping stone for Genoa’s future.”
The club’s top scorer is pulling no punches ahead of the head-to-head for fourth place at Marassi.
“If we win, we will stay in the group of teams who are aiming high. Since they returned to Serie A, Genoa have made massive steps forward and are admired by everyone,” said Il Principe.
“That is why this game is a crucial stepping stone for Genoa’s future. We are having a great season, but it’s important to maintain that momentum in this phase, as the points are starting to make a big difference.”
Milito has scored 14 Serie A goals in 19 appearances, plus another two in one Coppa Italia match.
“I hope to score against Fiorentina, but if a teammate nets and we win, that’s just as good for me.”
