Chiellini targets Chelsea comeback
Wednesday 11 February, 2009

Giorgio Chiellini could make his comeback this weekend and aims to be at top fitness for the trip to Chelsea.

The Juventus defender had already been suffering from muscular problems that ruled him out for a month at the end of 2008 when he had a relapse during the 3-2 defeat to Cagliari.

He was originally ruled out for another 25 days, but has made a rapid recovery and is reportedly close to his comeback.

Chiellini could be in the squad for this weekend’s meeting with Sampdoria, even if he is likely to only be on the bench.

The real return ought to be the trip to Palermo on February 21, followed by the Champions League encounter with Chelsea on February 25.

The Italian international has been training with the squad for the past few days and will test his fitness levels in tomorrow’s friendly with local side Chisola.
