Rossi bemoans Inter start
Sunday 7 December, 2008

Delio Rossi maintains Lazio’s chances of getting a result against Inter were quashed after just 100 seconds.

“If you want to beat a team like Inter, then conceding a goal less than two minutes in is not the best start,” sighed the Coach.

Walter Samuel netted almost immediately, paving the way for the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 result at the Stadio Olimpico last night.

“We had prepared our approach to the game a certain way and that incident changed the whole thing. There was a series of errors, Samuel was allowed a free header and we paid the price for that lack of concentration.”

The Biancocelesti had grown in confidence following their midweek Coppa Italia victory away to Milan, but lost Goran Pandev to injury early on.

“The truth is we conceded three goals without our ‘keeper needing to make a save. Inter caused us some problems, but we did the same to them and had the chances to equalise. I also think the third goal was offside.”

Matters weren’t helped in first half stoppages when Mobido Diakite accidentally put the ball into his own net – the fourth own goal Inter have benefited from this season.

“He put in a great performance and it’s just a shame he was unlucky on the own goal,” noted Rossi.

“We have several young talents who need to play and, with the risk of making mistakes, if they don’t play then they will never improve.”
