Genoa are in the unusual position of being the Derby della Lanterna favourites and Gian Piero Gasperini is loving every minute of it. We are certainly not the weakest side in this match, that is made very clear by our position in the standings, smiled the Coach. In the last two decades Sampdoria have been the primary club in Genoa, but this season they are six points adrift of their city rivals, albeit with a game against Roma in hand. We have the opportunity to accelerate further. The derby is a separate entity from the rest of the campaign, but it is not the most important game of the season, continued Gasperini I hope that it is above all a festival of football, as in previous derbies I saw families divided by their club loyalties who were nonetheless sitting together and united in their desire to enjoy themselves in the stadium. Andrea Gasbarroni has not managed to recover in time to face Samp, joining Giandomenico Mesto and Matteo Paro on the sidelines. Domenico Criscito and Thiago Motta return to the Rossoblu squad after their suspension. |

Cassano: Lippi hates me! Antonio Cassano has given up hope of an Italy recall while this Coach is still on the bench, claiming Marcello Lippi is biased against him. More Lippi crowns Derby della Lanterna Italy Coach Marcello Lippi has experienced almost every Serie A derby and insists the Genoa showdown is the most enjoyable of all. More Mazzarri has Milito plan Sampdoria Coach Walter Mazzarri trusts he knows how to win the derby and “take care of Diego Milito.” More |
