Prandelli prepares Toro test
Saturday 6 December, 2008

Cesare Prandelli has analysed Torino's strengths and weaknesses, but warns this is the type of match that'll teach Fiorentina their own faults.

“We watched Toro's recent games and, regardless of result, they had done well. They are creative, physically strong and it will be a tough test,” said the Viola boss.

“These are the matches that really make you understand what your own problems are. We need to create space and make the most of it.

“Both sides will go out there to win. We analysed their performances carefully and spotted their strengths and weak points.

“If they get a good start, then the home fans will rile them up to build on the momentum. That is why we have to put them under pressure from kick-off.”

Fiorentina put in one of their most impressive recent performances last week, albeit losing 1-0 away to Roma.

Now they face this test with Torino to stay in the race for European places and must prepare for Wednesday's Champions League trip to Steaua Bucharest, as they need a draw to qualify for the UEFA Cup.

“There are moments in a season where the games are very important and tomorrow is one of them,” assured Prandelli.

“We need to stay calm and balanced, as if we go for the victory at all costs then that becomes counter-productive.

“Considering how we played at Roma, I intend to stay on that path in terms of tactics. We have considered other alternatives, too.

“You have to, because sometimes a moment in a match can ruin all the tactical plans you had prepared.”

Dario Dainelli, Massimo Gobbi and Martin Jorgensen are out of action, but Gianluca Comotto returns from suspension to face his former club.

Fiorentina squad: Almiron, Avramov, Comotto, Donadel, Frey, Gamberini, Gilardino, Jovetic, Kroldrup, Kuzmanovic, Melo, Montolivo, Mutu, Osvaldo, Pasqual, Pazzini, Santana, Semioli, Storari, Vargas, Zauri.
