Former Lazio and Juventus star Marcelo Salas has decided to retire from football at the end of the season.
The Chilean hitman joined Lazio in 1998 and scored 33 goals in three years before joining Juve where he had less success.
In 2003, Salas returned to South America at River Plate before moving to Universidad de Chile.
During a meeting with Salas, he declared his intention to close his career here at Universidad de Chile, Universidad President Federico Valdes said on TVN.
We would like him to continue or at least to stay tied to the club in some capacity. Salas shares this desire.
Salas will play until the end of the current campaign before hanging up his boots.
