Blerim Dzemaili’s career has been revived at Torino and he has no intention of returning to the Premier League. “I’m still angry with Bolton.”
The Swiss international had an extremely unlucky start to his Wanderers experience when suffering a long-term injury and ended up making just one appearance for the club in the FA Cup.
He was sent out on loan to Toro in the summer and immediately proved himself an inspired signing and fan favourite.
“I don’t know if I am the revelation of Toro, but I will admit I didn’t think I would do this well so quickly here,” confessed Dzemaili.
“I still have contact with a few directors and teammates, but I am still angry with Bolton and don’t want to think about them any more.
“I am a player at Torino and not Bolton. I am grateful to Torino for allowing me to be reborn as a player and I’m determined to save the team from relegation. President Urbano Cairo deserves it, too.
“Right now I need to focus on improving myself and the team. I owe a great deal to [former Torino Coach Gianni] De Biasi, even if he was unable to field me the way he wanted to because of injury. We are trying to change our mentality under Walter Novellino now.”
Despite the new tactician’s arrival, the Granata are still just one point off the relegation zone and Dzemaili admits they wasted many chances.
“I’d say we deserve to be at this level in the table. We only really did well in three or four matches, but to think of a UEFA Cup place we needed at least 10.
“What do I hope for 2009? To have no more injuries.”
