Adriano staying put
Tuesday 30 December, 2008

Brazilian ace Adriano has confirmed he wishes to continue with Inter, but if he was to leave San Siro then he would definitely remain in Europe.

The former Parma striker has once again failed to impress for the Nerazzurri this term and despite an officially good relationship with Jose Mourinho he has struggled to establish himself into the starting XI.

“I never said that I wanted to move away,” pointed out the 26-year-old.

“I will return to Italy in time for the beginning of training. If I find myself on the transfer market I would have plenty of options, but I would probably stay in Europe,” he added.

Adriano has only featured seven times for Inter in Serie A this term, finding the net only once since the beginning of the season.

He was recently linked to Brazilian side Flamengo, but the striker has denied there have been any negotiations with the club.

“I love Flamengo,” he told Brazil website LanceNet. “I grew up there and I have already said that if I was to go back they would be my first choice. But I don't believe it will happen at this stage of my career.

“Mourinho is a great Coach and we get on well. He is a loyal person and I think he will give me a chance to play.”

Meanwhile, there is another Nerazzurro who is on his way out of San Siro. Olivier Dacourt has been sitting on the bench for most of the season and is now looking for a quick resolution.

“Before the arrival of Mourinho I was a regular. Then I found myself on the bench, but the Coach makes his own decisions and I cannot argue with them.

“The only thing I can do is to keep working hard although I am thinking about leaving,” concluded the French midfielder.

According to Dacourt several clubs from both England and Italy have shown interest in his services, but it will be up to Mourinho to decide whether to let him go at this point of the season.
