Palermo goalkeeper Alberto Fontana is on the brink of rescinding his contract with the Rosanero.
The 41-year-old was a regular starter with the Sicilians until the arrival of Azzurri understudy Marco Amelia last summer.
Fontana has started just four games all season and seems to have tired of cooling his heels on the Stadio Renzo Barbera bench.
The club have indicated that they are ready to let him leave and the former Inter man is in negotiations for a financial settlement.
According to reports on Tuttomercatoweb today, Fontana is close to agreeing the termination of his contract, which is due to expire in the summer.
There have been widespread rumours that Fontana will join Roma to act as a back-up to Alexander Doni and the Giallorossi would be happiest snapping up a free agent.
