Juventus striker David Trezeguet is to return sooner than expected following an operation to clean both his knees.
The Frenchman went under the knife on September 23 to lengthen his career and was expected to be out for at least four months.
Doctors, however, have given him the all clear to return to full training on December 30, giving Juventus fans even more reason to be cheerful ahead of the New Year.
Trezeguet is the most prolific foreign goal scorer in Juventus history with an astonishing 130 goals in 219 appearances.
Its going well, said Trezeguet of his recovery. You cannot imagine the joy I felt when I was able to train with the ball between my feet.
Bianconeri Coach Claudio Ranieri insists, however, that the former Monaco forward will not just walk into the team on proving his match fitness.
Summer signing Amauri has thrived in Trezeguets absence, scoring 11 goals in 16 starts for the Turin giants, and will expect to keep his place in the first team.
Juventus currently lie second in Serie A, having won nine of their last 10 games. They are six points behind leaders Inter.
