Mazzarri's wary of Metalist
Friday 19 December, 2008

Sampdoria boss Walter Mazzarri has warned the Blucerchiati not to underestimate UEFA Cup opponents Metalist.

The Genoa outfit earned a place in the last 32 with a magnificent 1-0 win over Sevilla last night.

And they were rewarded with a tie against surprise package Metalist of Ukraine, who surprisingly won Group B.

“We can't let ourselves be fooled by the name of our opponents,” Mazzarri told Datasport.

“Metalist are an awkward side who are physically strong. They were able to win their group without even conceding a goal.

“We need to be cautious and to show them respect. It will be hard to prepare because the Ukrainian League is having a long break.

“Still it is nice to have reached this stage and we are looking forward to the next test.”
