Walter Mazzarri congratulated his Sampdoria side after they progressed from the UEFA Cup's Group of Death.
Mazzarri had been bleak about his men's chances when they were drawn against Stuttgart, Sevilla, Standard Liege and Partizan.
However, a 75th-minute winner from Jonathan Bottinelli earned Samp a 1-0 win over Sevilla, which sent Doria through and the Spaniards out.
We gave away so very little and I am very satisfied, Mazzarri grinned.
They didn't leave much space and for that reason we had to play long balls, which isn't ideal for Claudio Bellucci or Antonio Cassano.
But we gave everything and I want to dedicate this victory to the 15,000 fans who came to the stadium.
Antonio Cassano? He is a talent, but he is still at 50 per cent and can give still more.
