Sampdoria captain Antonio Cassano was delighted with last night's UEFA Cup qualification, but is less positive about his Azzurri future.
The Blucerchiati overcame Sevilla 1-0 at Marassi to qualify for the last 32 of the UEFA Cup.
We deserved to qualify, thanks to all the sacrifices we have made along the way, Cassano said after the final whistle.
We wrote another chapter in the history of the club because it has been 16 years since Sampdoria went this far in Europe.
Now let's hope that we can sign some good new players in January so that we can strengthen for the final phase of the competition.
There has been lots of speculation over Cassano's Italy future lately as the fiery marksman has suggested that he has no chance of being selected by Marcello Lippi.
However, he seemed unwilling to discuss the matter after the game at Marassi.
La Nazionale? For me, that is a closed chapter, Cassano said cryptically.
