Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has successfully undergone surgery on his right knee.
The pugnacious Azzurri ace sustained ligament damage during Week 15's clash with Catania.
But Gattuso is already eyeing a speedy recovery and has taken an important step in Belgium this morning.
Milan would like to communicate that Gattuso was operated on today by Professor Marc Martens and his team, a statement from the club reads.
The player's right knee ligaments were reconstructed and the surgery was a complete success. His recovery period will be around six months.
Before surgery, Gattuso was full of optimism, but wary of the risks of rushing a return.
It will take time for me to get back on the pitch, he told the Corriere dello Sport.
However, I don't want to rush things and I have been told to stay calm and use my head.
