Luciano Spalletti admired Roma’s reaction after going 2-1 down to Cagliari, but warned they “can do a lot better.”
The Giallorossi were seemingly in control of the match at the Stadio Olimpico, but went 2-1 down and then fought back for a 3-2 win in stoppages.
“It was an intense encounter with continual end-to-end football. In the first half we controlled the tempo, then that great Daniele Conti goal gave Cagliari hope,” said the Coach.
“We lost our unity and a counter-attack allowed them to double their tally. Thankfully the team reacted and brought home a positive result.
“We did pretty well and I saw a fine performance after the equaliser, but we can do a lot better.”
Simone Perrotta made it 2-2 with a spectacular overhead kick before Mirko Vucinic snatched the victory in injury time.
“Mirko knows how to shake up a game at the important moments because he has flair and quality, even if at times he loses focus and struggles to remain consistent.”
This result puts Roma in the top half of the table with a game in hand, as their rained-off match with Sampdoria will be played in January.
