Pavel's pleased with a point
Thurday 11 December, 2008

Pavel Nedved has stressed that it was crucial to secure top spot in Champions League Group H by drawing with BATE Borisov yesterday.

The Old Lady were already guaranteed a place in the last 16 before kick-off in Turin, but they could have finished second had they lost to their Belorussian opponents.

Despite Sebastian Giovinco missing a penalty, Juve avoided defeat and will be in the box seat for the draw on December 19.

“I like Juventus because they get what they want,” Nedved declared on the Juventus Channel.

“We wanted the point against BATE and we got it. It wasn't a spectacular game and we could have wrapped it up earlier, but we were never at risk.”

Former Inter midfielder Cristiano Zanetti returned from injury to play his first game since July.

“Everything went well in the midfield,” Nedved asserted.

“It was easy to play alongside Zanetti and he will give us a big hand from now on.

“I don't care about the draw because the important thing was making sure we finished first in the group.”
