Legrottaglie fears Atletico
Thurday 11 December, 2008

Nicola Legrottaglie hopes Juventus do not get Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, but would like a trip to Lisbon.

As group winners thanks to their 0-0 draw with BATE Borisov and a superior head-to-head record with Real Madrid, the Bianconeri will be seeds in the draw on December 19.

This means the possibility of being paired with Chelsea, Sporting, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, Lyon or Arsenal.

“I don’t want to pick Atletico Madrid in the draw, whereas I would happily take on Sporting Lisbon,” said the defender.

“Considering what was at stake, we were more interested in getting the point against BATE, but while there we tried to win it and certainly had the chances.

“These games are often dangerous when you know a draw will do, so we had to show maturity and patience, not running any risks.”

Legrottaglie will be suspended for the Serie A showdown with rivals Milan, so Olof Mellberg is set to take his place alongside Giorgio Chiellini.

“If we win on Sunday then it will be a big step forward, but Milan are an excellent squad and we’ll have to prepare for it carefully.”
