Founded in 1908, it took just two years for Internazionale Football Club Milano to win its first Italian title. It was the first of 15 Scudetti for the Nerazzurri, although the team missed out on the 1963-64 championship after losing a 2-0 play-off to Bologna. That same year the capture of the European and Intercontinental Cups made up for the disappointment, a feat they repeated the season after.

These were the Golden Years of Coach Helenio Herrera who revolutionised the world of Italian and European football. Inter are the only club never to have been relegated from Serie A and have also collected three UEFA Cups, Five Coppa Italia trophies and three Italian Super Cups.

Under chief Massimo Moratti, the Nerazzurri became known for underachievement with Giovanni Trapattoni leading the side to the Scudetto triumph in 1989 followed by nearly two decades of disappointment.

However, Inter were the main beneficiaries of the Calciopoli scandal. The Beneamata were officially awarded the 2005-06 Scudetto and earned the title on the field with a record-breaking campaign in 2006-07. They won it again a season later, but it wasn't enough for boss Roberto Mancini who was sacked in favour of Jose Mourinho.
