Born in 1920 by a group of Sardinian students, it took the Isolani just over 40 years to reach Serie A for the first time. They could have achieved it 10 years earlier though when they lost a play-off against Pro-Patria for admission into the First Division back in 1954.

Having won the right to play Italy’s big boys in 1964, this small club did the unthinkable by actually winning Lo Scudetto in 1970 - thanks to a gifted squad which included the talented Italian legend Gigi Riva.

The side has since then become somewhat of a yo-yo club, even dropping down to Serie C in 1987. This is their fourth consecutive term in the top flight, although the loss of top scorer David Suazo will be a heavy blow to their chances of making it five.
