Week 15 - Reports

Albinoleffe 0-0 Treviso (Dec 4)
Albinoleffe maintain the leadership alongside Pisa, but this was a very disappointing match. Madonna should have given the home side the lead after 56 minutes, but incredibly fired straight at Calderoni when clear on goal. Marchetti parried a Baccin strike and both sides had penalty appeals for Bonucci’s handling offence and a tackle on Pia. It is a fine result for Treviso, who had until now lost all their away games..

Bari 1-1 Bologna
Bologna lost an opportunity to further close in on the leadership at the Stadio San Nicola. Marazzina bagged his fourth goal in three games by pouncing on a short parry from Gillet and Terzi confirmed the Rossoblu’s dominance when he thumped the crossbar. However, Esposito managed to squeeze his shot in from close range to draw Bari level before the break. Terzi saw red on the hour mark and neither side could break through.
Scorers: Marazzina 21 (Bo), Esposito 39 (Ba)

Brescia 0-2 Chievo
Brescia boss Serse Cosmi risks the sack after this defeat sent his team into an undeniable crisis. The former leaders have tumbled down the standings with one win from their last seven games and lost to their direct competitors for a promotion spot. Goalkeeper Viviano should perhaps have done better on Italiano’s strike, then Pellissier ensured the points were safe thanks to his free kick.
Scorers: Italiano 57 (C), Pellissier 71 (C)

Cesena 1-1 Spezia
New Coach Giovanni Vavassori made his debut at the Stadio Manuzzi, but it was not enough to give Cesena their first win of the season. Moscardelli’s rocket from the edge of the area provided hope, but Spezia poured forward after the break. Berti managed a desperate save to deny Guidetti, but in the final minute Padoin netted a curling effort across the face of goal.

Grosseto 1-1 Ascoli
Ascoli’s dismal away form continues, as they have only scored four goals on their travels this season, but managed to snatch a point in Tuscany. Australian Valeri had given Grosseto the lead on 63 minutes by finalising a splendid team move and Carparelli’s chance to double the advantage was cut short by the woodwork. However, in the closing stages Pesce managed to get something out of the game with a strike from the edge of the area.
Scorers: Valeri 63 (G), Pesce 82 (A)
Grosseto: Bressan; Terra, Mignani, Abruzzese; Innocenti, Valeri, Lazzari (Carboni 90), Garofalo; Gessa (Moro 61), Paulinho, Carparelli (Zecchin 81)

Mantova 3-2 Frosinone
Mantova completed a spectacular comeback to leapfrog past Frosinone in the Serie B table. The visitors opened the scoring when Pegolo could only parry Evacuo’s strike into the path of Martini. Moments later Godeas thumped the post and Corona drew level by springing the offside trap to waltz round the goalkeeper. The start of the second half was exhilarating, as in the space of 11 minutes the crowd saw three goals. Godeas tapped in, then got his head to a Fiore corner kick before Evacuo’s counter kept Frosinone in the running. Lodi almost inspired the away side to a 3-3 draw, but was repeatedly denied by shot-stopper Pegolo.
Scorers: Martini 35 (F), Corona 41 (M), Godeas 47, 50 (M), Evacuo 56 (F)

Messina 1-0 Avellino
Biancolino doomed his former club to defeat, having worn the Avellino jersey for three years. The striker got the decisive touch to Degano’s cross-shot for a simple finish. Moro had a header disallowed for offside, then Degano was denied by De Angelis’ goalline clearance. Gaveglia ruined the performance with two bookable offences.

Modena 1-2 Triestina
Granoche proved decisive with his 11th goal of the season as the current trends were confirmed. Triestina notched up their third straight win, while Modena have lost three of their last four games. Granoche redirected a Graffied effort that had come off the upright, then set up Rossetti’s rocket into the top corner. Dei performed a crucial save to deny Bruno before he was beaten by Koffi from close range, but it was too late to turn the result around. Triestina celebrate their first away victory since September 15.
Scorers: Granoche 23 (T), Rossetti 60 (T), Koffi 88 (M)

Pisa 1-1 Lecce
Pisa went to the top of the table – awaiting Albinoleffe’s rescheduled match – but left it very late indeed to avoid defeat against the promotion candidates. Cottafava had broken through for Lecce within eight minutes with a surprise strike from distance that found goalkeeper Morello stranded. He proved to be very useful at the other end, too, his goalline clearance preventing Castillo’s equaliser. After Munari’s dismissal, Pisa stepped up the pressure and finally got level through Genevier.
Scorers: Cottafava 8 (L), Genevier 88 (P)
Sent off: Munari 72 (L)
Pisa: Morello; Zavagno (Ciotola 76), Zoppetti, Genevier, Raimondi, Trevisan, D'Anna (Carrozza 69), Braiati, Castillo, Kutuzov, Cerci (Rajczi 89)

Ravenna 0-1 Rimini
Rimini notched up a fourth win on the trot to climb into a very promising position. Ravenna’s defensive frailties were clear for all to see once more, as Peccarisi was given too much space for a free header on Pagano’s set-piece. The home side were missing the suspended Sciaccaluga and injured Calzi, so there was precious little inspiration for a fightback. Larosa saw red late on.
Scorers: Peccarisi 20 (Ri)
Sent off: Larosa 86 (Ra)
Ravenna: Pardini; Pivotto, Cosenza, Anzalone, Fasano; Toledo (Aloe 46), Olive, Larosa, Pizzolla (Barilla` 74); Chianese, Succi (Fofana 62)

Attendance: 4,872

Vicenza 0-1 Piacenza
Vicenza were kicking themselves at the final whistle, as both teams seemed content to merely avoid defeat before a stoppage-time turn of fate, when Fissore accidentally turned the ball into his own net.
Scorers: Fissore og 90 (P)
Vicenza: Zancope`; Martinelli, Terranova, Fissore, Brivio; Masiello, L Rigoni, Helguera, Morosini (Marchesetti 89), Serafini (Dal Bosco 73); Schwoch
