Billy Costacurta's management career continues to gain momentum with a second consecutive win, as Mantova took a surprise scalp by fighting back to defeat Albinoleffe on their own turf. Carobbio had seemingly put Leffe in control with a left-foot strike, but Costacurta made an inspired substitution with Corona changing the game. He equalised from distance and helped the move that allowed Godeas to get a diving header to Rizzi's cross for victory.

Ancona had quite a surprise in store just a week after beating leaders Empoli at the Castellani. The key moment was Camillucci's red card, as that allowed Avellino to pour forward and eventually snatch victory through Pellicori. De Martino's dismissal for the visitors was too late to change anything.

Brescia were stunned at the Rigamonti by a Piacenza side that had not won in three rounds. The Rondinelle can have reason to be annoyed, as Maccan wasted a golden opportunity one-on-one with goalkeeper Cassano by firing wide. It proved to be decisive, as soon after Moscardelli grabbed the winner.

Lodi kept Empoli at the top of the table by scoring against his former club, but Frosinone had the better of the game and were frustrated when Eder's free kick thumped the upright. Bassi denied two Santoruvo headers and Busce' performed a goalline clearance, but late on it was Lodi who won the game with a long-range effort that took Sicignano by surprise.

Grosseto 2-1 Modena
Leaders Grosseto found it a lot tougher than expected against the bottom of the table club, as Modena impressed in the first half with Pedro De Oliveira scoring his second Serie B goal since joining from Cluj last month, getting on the end of a parried Bruno strike. Grosseto had to take advantage of an error after the restart, Sansovini left unmarked to volley from close range. Abruzzese completed the comeback by nodding in a Consonni corner kick.

Parma 1-1 Bari
Neither side will have been satisfied with a draw, but Parma had the better chances as Bari visited the Stadio Tardini. Parma took an early lead in this battle of the sleeping giants when Pisanu poked home on the second attempt after a corner. Bari pressed and deservedly equalised just after the half-hour mark. Pavarini unnecessarily hauled down Kamata for a penalty and Barreto wrong-footed Gillet. After the break, Gillet made a superb diving stop to deny Pisanu a second before a string of substitutions as fitness levels waned. Cristiano Lucarelli's headed goal from a Morrone cross was disallowed for offside but neither side could find a winner. Esposito was sent off for a cynical foul on Lucarelli on the edge of the box in the dying seconds - the free-kick was deflected to safety and it was honours even.

Pisa 1-1 Ascoli
It was a dramatic finale that stretched to eight minutes of stoppages in Pisa, but nine-man Ascoli clung to the point and in fact risked victory. Soncin put the visitors ahead straight after the restart, but Degano repeatedly wasted the opportunity to equalise, none more so then when he saw his penalty saved by Taibi. However, from the consequent corner Pisa got their goal through Viviani. Di Donato had already received two bookings and the Woodpeckers were reduced to eight men when Micolucci committed a professional foul and 'keeper Taibi took his protests too far.

Rimini's crisis continues unabated as they crumbled on home turf to Triestina. The game had barely begun when Della Rocca's header opened the scoring, then Testini completed a solo effort. Rimini's attempts to get back into the match only stretched so far as Frara nodding on to the bar.

Sassuolo got back to winning ways after a three-match negative streak in which they hadn't even scored a single goal. Poli broke that drought 29 minutes in with a splendid daisy-cutter from distance, then Pagani made it 2-0 with a curler into the top corner. Pesoli's dismissal only made it tougher for Cittadella and Turati's foul on Masucci handed Salvetti a spot-kick. Manucci made the scoreline a little more respectable in stoppages.

Treviso 2-2 Salernitana
Salernitana hoped to recapture the leadership of Serie B, but were held in a four-goal thriller by relegation battlers Treviso. It had started so well for the visitors, as three minutes in Giampa’s parried effort fell to him for an easy finish. Piovaccari fought back by rifling through a sea of legs, but again goalkeeper Guardalben didn’t hold the ball and this time Ciarcia’ took advantage. Treviso mounted a stirring comeback in the second half and, after goalline clearances and saves denied Piovaccari and Smit, it seemed over when Dal Canto saw red for a second bookable offence. However, the 10-man minnows snatched their point through Missiroli’s header.
