Kaka surgery was 'useless'
Thursday 7 August, 2008

Milan’s club doctor Jean Pierre Meersseman has astonishingly claimed that Kaka’s recent knee operation was a waste of time.

Having been blighted by a knee problem throughout last season, Kaka went under the knife last month and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

But Meersseman insists that Brazil’s national doctor Jose Luiz Runco was wrong to perform the procedure because it only treated Kaka’s meniscus injury and not the inflammation of his tendon.

“With the operation the player wanted, time was lost because he had to undergo rehabilitation without curing the other problem,” Meersseman roared.

“The injury to his meniscus was cured during the operation but it had nothing to do with the inflammation. The procedure was useless and damaging.”

Kaka could be out until October with his current problem as reports suggest that his recovery has been slower than anticipated.
