Fiorentina new recruit Juan Manuel Vargas is proud to be a Viola player and hopes to be fit for the Tuscans European opener against Slavia Prague.
The Peruvian international transferred from Catania to Fiorentina this summer and is about to begin the biggest challenge of his career.
Vargas had been a target for a number of top European sides, allegedly including Real Madrid, but he was delighted to end up at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Except for Inter and Milan I dont see any teams that are better than Fiorentina, Vargas declared.
I dont know whether Real Madrid were really interested in me too but I know that the Violas offer was real and I am playing for an excellent team who can fight for the Scudetto.
The 24-year-old has been suffering with an injury to his quadriceps over the last few weeks, but he has set his heart on recovering in time for August 12s Champions League preliminary test against Slavia Prague.
I will do everything I can not to miss the Slavia game because it is a crucial game for us players and the fans, he concluded.
