Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini doesn’t disguise his displeasure at their opening defeat, but insists Coach Stefano Colantuono “is not at risk.”
The fiery patron is known for his itchy trigger finger when it comes to tacticians and already sacked and rehired Colantuono last term.
“I am convinced we have a good squad, and yet we keep having the same problems in defence that we did last year,” mused Zamparini on stadionews.it after a 3-1 loss at the Stadio Friuli.
“The players have changed, but against Udinese it was just like watching the friendly we lost to Portogruaro.”
The summer has been dismal so far for the Sicilians, who lost 3-1 to Serie C side Portogruaro and were then dumped out of the Coppa Italia by another third division outfit, Ravenna.
“This break in the Serie A season for international duty will help us to understand what went wrong, but please don’t say that Colantuono is in the balance.
“We do have to work in order to correct our mistakes and clearly we cannot continue this way.”
