Inter could make one last attempt to sign Ricardo Quaresma at a discount price, but they are lining up Victor Obinna as an alternative.
The Nerazzurri have added Sulley Muntari and Amantino Mancini to their squad this summer, but they haven't made the expected striking swoop.
New boss Jose Mourinho has admitted his desire to work with compatriot Quaresma, but Porto have slapped a £30m price tag on the unsettled ace - a fee that Inter are unwilling and unable to pay.
However, with the market set to close, the Italian champions are reportedly ready to make one last attempt to prise Quaresma away from the Dragons.
There are whispers that the Beneamata will bid £15m plus the loan of Portuguese youngster Pelè and Inter directors Marco Branca and Gabriele Oriali are scheduled to meet Quaresma's agent Jorge Mendes shortly.
If a deal doesn't come to fruition, President Massimo Moratti is expected to bring Obinna in from Chievo.
The Nigerian prodigy has been with the Flying Donkeys since 2005, but Inter helped finance the move in exchange for a form of co-ownership agreement.
Obinna has stressed that he wants to leave Verona this summer and is expecting to finally relocate to San Siro.
