Wednesday 13 August, 2008 | | There are reports that Juventus have reached an agreement with Newcastle United for the loan of unsettled midfielder Tiago Mendes.
The Portuguese star endured a disastrous 2007-08 campaign after arriving from Lyon this time last year for around £11m.
Tiago is reportedly desperate to find a new club and has vacated his house in Turin but no side have matched Juves price tag so far.
However, after unsuccessful attempts by Tottenham and Atletico Madrid, there are suggestions that Newcastle have come to a temporary agreement with the Old Lady.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Newcastle will take Tiago on a season loan with the option to make the deal permanent for £8m next summer.
It is unlikely that Tiago will feature for Juve against Artmedia in tonights Champions League preliminary clash because the Bianconeri dont want him to be cup-tied, which could reduce his value.
