Viola await Eindhoven exam
Wednesday 9 April, 2008

Cesare Prandelli believes that his Fiorentina side can overcome PSV and book a place in the UEFA Cup semi-finals.

The Viola were held to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Artemio Franchi – a disappointing result after Adrian Mutu had given them a second-half lead.

Prandelli’s men now face the daunting task of conquering the Philips Stadion, but their leader isn’t fazed.

“It’s going to be a difficult game,” he admitted. “But these are the kind of challenges that we need to overcome.

“I am convinced that we can do it if we go there with the right mentality.”

The Gigliati’s cause has been helped by the timely returns of key defenders Alessandro Gamberini and Tomas Ujfalusi from injury.

“This team is getting used to playing huge games every three or four days,” Gamberini pointed out.

“We know that we are playing for an important aim on Thursday and we face an arduous task.

“The only way that we can succeed is to give everything and this is a big chance for us all to show what we are worth.

“The main thing is not to concede an early goal and then we can stay in the game for the full 90 minutes.”

Fiorentina (squad): Frey, Avramov, Lupatelli; Dainelli, Gamberini, Kroldrup, Pasqual, Potenza, Ujfalusi; Donadel, Jorgensen, Gobbi, Kuzmanovic, Liverani, Montolivo, Santana; Mutu, Pazzini, Osvaldo, Vieri
